Indus ValleyAmri Jar (complete good example reglued)

Very finely potted as a shouldered jar with and upturned lip. The whole body is decorated in black with geometric pattern of triangles within linear borders. An imposing example. Circa 300BC.

The Amri ceramic assemblage comprises of extremely well made wares fired light red or buff. Decoration is usually black paint. Earliest designs and exclusively geometric developing into more curvilinear motifs over time. Characteristic vessels and open bowls, jars and vases.
