Nal ceramics are among the best made and most attractive wares of prehistoric times in South Asia. They are fired buff to pink, slips tend to be very light giving just a tint to the surface, polychrome infilling of designs in red, pink, blue, and yellow is a speciality of this ware. Characteristic vessel forms are canisters and straight sided bowls with footed bases and knife-edge rims.
